Centreville, Md. — Authorities arrested a suspected drunk driver following a high-speed pursuit that concluded near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Sunday evening.
The incident began just before 7 p.m. along Route 18 in Queen Anne's County when a Sheriff's deputy, responding to a call, noticed a vehicle that nearly collided with him.
In response, the deputy executed a U-turn to follow the car, which continued to flee despite crashing into a ditch shortly thereafter. The driver accelerated, reaching high speeds as the chase progressed.
Upon merging onto US-50, the suspect's vehicle collided with a barrier near Shopping Center Road before hitting several guardrails and ultimately spinning out at the base of the bridge.
The driver was identified as 27-year-old Carolyn Miller from Centreville. Following her arrest, police administered a breathalyzer test that recorded a blood alcohol content of .22, significantly above the legal limit of .08.
Officers also discovered multiple alcoholic beverages inside Miller's vehicle.
