The Maryland Department of Health has confirmed a case of measles in a resident who recently traveled internationally. This incident highlights the importance of vaccination and monitoring for symptoms among Marylanders.
Health officials are advising anyone who visited specific locations during designated times to be vigilant for potential exposure. Affected sites include:
- Dulles International Airport (IAD): Concourse C international arriving corridors, transportation to the International Arrivals Building (IAB), and baggage claim area on June 17, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Marys Center Adams Morgan Clinic, located at 2333 Ontario Rd. NW, Washington D.C., on June 17, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Individuals who may have been exposed are encouraged to check their vaccination status and monitor for symptoms. Early signs of measles include a fever exceeding 101 degrees Fahrenheit, runny nose, cough, and red, watery eyes.
It is important to note that a person infected with measles is contagious from four days before the rash appears until four days after it begins. This case marks the fourth confirmed instance of measles in Maryland for the year 2026.
