The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is set to conduct a series of open house meetings this fall to discuss the Baltimore Red Line project. These sessions will provide an opportunity for the community to learn about potential route alignments, project considerations, and technical updates, while also gathering input from residents.
The open houses will take place from October 22 to October 26 at various locations along the proposed Red Line corridor. The public will be able to share their thoughts and concerns during these meetings, with a comment period extending until November 25.
Earlier this year, the MTA designated light rail as the preferred transit mode for the project and narrowed the route options from six to three. The agency has been actively engaged in technical analysis and collaboration with local partners to refine these alternatives.
Community feedback is crucial as it will help determine the specific routing for the Red Line, including decisions regarding surface or tunneled sections. During the open houses, attendees will have access to detailed analyses, ongoing questions, and community considerations related to each of the three route options.
Materials from the open houses will also be available on the project's website, which will feature information in both English and Spanish. For those unable to attend in-person events, feedback can be submitted online.
