Over 200 Dirt Bikers Surrounded by Police in Baltimore Flee Before Backup Arrives

On Sunday evening, Baltimore witnessed a significant surge in illegal dirt biking as over 200 riders took to the streets, overwhelming local police forces.

The incident occurred near a Hip Hop Fish & Chicken in Northwest Baltimore, where riders were seen performing stunts and riding recklessly. Police responded to a call at approximately 7:19 p.m. on Reisterstown Road in the Liberty Square neighborhood.

Upon arrival, officers found themselves outnumbered and surrounded by the bikers. Attempts to engage the riders were thwarted, leading to a call for additional police support. However, by the time more officers arrived, the bikers had dispersed from the area, resulting in no arrests and no reported injuries.

This event is part of an ongoing issue with illegal dirt bike activity in Baltimore. Recent incidents have raised concerns about the danger posed by these riders, including a May incident where an officer was injured after being struck by a dirt bike. In another tragic case that month, a dirt biker lost their life in a collision with an SUV.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott has previously emphasized the risks associated with reckless dirt bike riding, acknowledging the persistence of this culture in the city. In response to the rising incidents, police have issued warnings to gas station owners about the potential consequences of allowing dirt bikers to refuel at their premises.

Gas station managers have expressed frustration over the challenges of complying with these warnings, as shutting down pumps can lead to lost business and customer dissatisfaction.
