BALTIMORE — A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred over the weekend in southwest Baltimore. The charges include vehicular manslaughter and theft of a motor vehicle.
The incident took place around 1 p.m. on June 20 in the 1800 block of W. Pratt Street. Upon arrival, police found a three-year-old girl suffering from severe injuries. Tragically, the child later succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities reported that the driver fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after. The vehicle involved in the accident had been reported stolen by a family member just before the crash.
The victim has been identified as Jordan Bright, and a GoFundMe campaign has been established in her memory. The campaign describes her as a precious child with a bright future, lamenting the loss felt by her family and loved ones.
Due to the teenager's age, the case will be processed through the juvenile court system, as confirmed by the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office. The Department of Juvenile Services is currently unable to provide comments on the matter in accordance with state law.
Detectives from the Baltimore Police Crash Team are actively investigating the incident. Anyone with further information is encouraged to reach out to the detectives at 410-396-2606 or call 911.
