BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — The Baltimore County Police Department has officially introduced a new design for its police cruisers, showcasing significant upgrades in both technology and visibility.
The unveiling took place at police headquarters on Tuesday, marking the most substantial redesign of the fleet in over three decades. The new vehicles are equipped with advanced computers and center consoles, synchronized lighting systems, and improved air conditioning for those in custody.
The exterior of the cruisers features the name of Baltimore County prominently displayed, along with 100% reflective decals aimed at increasing the visibility of police officers in the community.
Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier commented on the new design, stating, "Not only do these new decals look great, but they'll make our officers even more visible. Whenever people are in an emergency, they look for someone to help them. Whenever they see one of these new cars arriving on the scene, they can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the Baltimore County Police Department is there with them."
Attendees at the unveiling event were given the opportunity to closely examine the new cruisers, including guided tours of the interior features.
In total, 25 updated vehicles are set to be deployed in the coming months, reflecting a modern approach to law enforcement while honoring the traditions of the Baltimore County Police Department.
Police Chief Robert McCullough remarked, "This is the next chapter in the evolution of the police department's vehicles. A chapter that reflects a more modern Baltimore County Police Department and honors the traditions and values that have long guided this department."
