Baltimore Police Officer Arrested for Allegedly Threatening Woman with Shotgun

A Baltimore Police officer has been arrested following allegations that he threatened a woman with a shotgun at his residence in Northeast Baltimore.

Emmanuel Ricky Alston, 33, was taken into custody on Tuesday and is facing charges of first- and second-degree assault, with the first-degree charge being a felony that could result in a maximum of 25 years in prison.

During a court appearance on Wednesday, Baltimore District Judge Marnell A. Cooper ordered Alston to be held without bond.

Alston's attorney, Chaz Ball, has not responded to requests for comment as of Thursday.

Hired in 2019, Alston was earning an annual salary of approximately $80,000 in 2025, with a total compensation of about $108,000 that year, according to city salary records.

Baltimore Police spokesperson Lindsey Eldridge confirmed that the department is aware of Alston's arrest and stated that he has been suspended without pay. Prior to this incident, Alston was assigned to the Western District.

According to charging documents, police responded to Alston's home in the 6000 block of McClean Boulevard around 4 a.m. on Tuesday. A woman reported that during a gathering at the residence, Alston became aggressive when she expressed her desire to leave. He allegedly retrieved a shotgun, loaded it with red shells, and threatened her by stating he would harm anyone who came to pick her up.

The woman managed to escape to a nearby gas station, as she was not familiar with the area. Officers who arrived at the scene found a black shotgun leaning against a wall in the living room, along with a compact rifle on the bedroom floor and a handgun on the couch.

Alston was subsequently arrested by three officers and transported to the Northeastern District Station for further investigation.
