In a tragic incident, Ciarre Campbell, the brother of Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell, has been charged with the murder of their mother, Nateal Campbell. The charges were confirmed by WSB-TV, which reported that Ciarre Campbell is facing four counts, including murder and aggravated assault.
Authorities responded to a welfare check at Nateal Campbell's residence in Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon, where they discovered her deceased. The specific cause of her death has not yet been disclosed.
The Campbell family released a heartfelt statement through ESPN's Ian Rapoport, expressing their devastation over the loss of their matriarch. They stated, “We are devastated to share that the Campbell Family has lost its matriarch, Mrs. Nateal Campbell. While the details of her passing are still being investigated, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with our father, her beloved Chuck, and in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We ask for privacy at this time so that we may honor her and share in our overwhelming grief privately and as a family.”
Calais Campbell, who played for the Ravens from 2020 to 2022, has since signed a one-year deal to return to the team for the upcoming 2026 season after stints with the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins.
