Gwynn Oak Shooting Victims Identified as Siblings

Baltimore County police have identified the two siblings who were tragically shot and killed in their Gwynn Oak home on Tuesday night. The victims, 9-year-old Steve Allen and 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie, were discovered in the 6100 block of Talles Road after their parents returned home.

Officers were dispatched to the location following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found the siblings deceased. Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough expressed the profound sadness surrounding the incident, noting the unnecessary loss of life and the impact it has on the community.

"These are two lives that have been snuffed out before they could even get started," McCullough stated, emphasizing the rarity of such violent occurrences in the area, where police typically handle lesser complaints like speeding and noise disturbances.

Giovanna Myrie was a student at Western High School, according to Principal Brittany Baugh. In response to the tragedy, Baltimore City Schools released a statement offering condolences to the family and friends of the victims, while also providing counseling services for those affected. The school district has requested privacy for the grieving family during this difficult time.

As investigations continue, detectives are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to contact them at 410-887-4636. Authorities are actively searching for a suspect in connection with this case.
