BALTIMORE — A man has filed a lawsuit against Central Christian Church in Baltimore County, alleging that he was sexually abused as a teenager by Thomas George Pinkerton Jr., a former pastor at the church. Pinkerton, who pleaded guilty to a count of sexual abuse of a minor earlier this month, has been accused by multiple victims, with at least seven individuals coming forward.
Pinkerton, who left the church over 15 years ago, is now facing civil action from one of his alleged victims. The law firm Andreozzi + Foote, representing the plaintiff, asserts that both the church and its lead pastor were aware of Pinkerton's inappropriate behavior between 2006 and 2010.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff's grandfather had raised serious concerns regarding Pinkerton's conduct directly with the church's leadership. The lawsuit claims that other parents and church staff also reported Pinkerton's predatory behavior, yet the church allegedly failed to take any action to investigate or address these complaints, allowing the abuse to persist.
Pinkerton is set to be sentenced on December 14, with prosecutors seeking a four-year prison term for his actions. In response to his guilty plea, Central Christian Church expressed its sorrow for the victims and stated its commitment to child safety, emphasizing ongoing efforts to prevent future incidents.
The church has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the recent lawsuit.
