A Montgomery County jury has convicted 39-year-old Quinnton Eric Brown of first-degree murder in connection with the execution-style killing of 35-year-old Delondre Sawyer. The verdict was reached on Wednesday in Circuit Court, with additional charges including armed robbery and conspiracy.
The incident occurred on February 7, 2024, when Brown allegedly shot Sawyer in the back of the head while he was seated in the driver's seat of a Honda Accord. Following the shooting, Sawyer's body was discovered in a wooded area on Game Preserve Road, stripped of clothing.
Prosecutors detailed that Sawyer was dragged into the woods after being killed. At the time of the incident, three other individuals were present in the vehicle, with Brown positioned behind the passenger seat.
In a related case, codefendant DeAngelo McRoy was convicted of first-degree murder in October 2024, while another accomplice pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
Authorities located the vehicle driven by Sawyer in Germantown, aided by surveillance footage from a gas station in Gaithersburg. The defendants also stole personal items from Sawyer, including a backpack and credit cards.
A sentencing hearing for Brown is slated for October 1, where he faces a potential life sentence without parole, in addition to 135 years for the various charges.
Sawyer, a father of two daughters, was born in Silver Spring and educated in Montgomery County Public Schools. He was remembered in his obituary as a religious man with a vibrant personality.
