Howard County Police reported that a motorcyclist was fatally injured in a collision with a transit bus on Route 32 late Wednesday night.
The incident occurred around 10:39 p.m. as the rider of a 2024 Suzuki GSX 1300 was heading eastbound on Route 32, situated between Route 29 and Shaker Drive. Authorities stated that the motorcyclist attempted to overtake the bus when the accident transpired.
According to police, the motorcyclist lost control after making contact with the passenger side of the bus and subsequently veered off the roadway. Sadly, the operator was pronounced dead at the scene.
The bus driver, who was not injured in the incident, remained at the location until authorities arrived. Following the collision, eastbound Route 32 was closed for over four hours as police conducted their investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the crash; however, the investigation is still ongoing.
This tragic event comes on the heels of another serious bus incident earlier in the day, where an MTA bus crashed into a building in Pikesville, injuring more than 30 individuals. That incident is also under investigation by Baltimore County Police.
