New Note in Nancy Guthrie Case Claims She Has Died

A note linked to the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC's Savannah Guthrie, has claimed that she has died. This information comes from multiple law enforcement sources familiar with the case.

The note follows an initial message that demanded a ransom of millions of dollars. Investigators are treating both notes as credible communications from the alleged kidnappers. The second note indicated that Nancy Guthrie died shortly after her abduction, although the kidnappers asserted that they did not intend for her to be harmed.

In response to the situation, Savannah Guthrie shared an emotional video, expressing the family's acknowledgment of the message. The contents of both notes were also known to a local Tucson television station, which, along with CNN, agreed to withhold details at the request of law enforcement and the Guthrie family to ensure the authenticity of any future communications.

Questions about the ransom note's legitimacy were reignited after TMZ founder Harvey Levin released a video addressing rumors surrounding a letter related to Nancy Guthrie. Levin stated that claims of receiving a ransom note apologizing for her kidnapping and death were inaccurate. He clarified that the note he received indicated Nancy was 'scared but OK,' without any mention of an apology or her death.

TMZ reportedly received several emails from someone claiming to know the alleged kidnappers and offering information about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts for a sum of $100,000. Levin expressed skepticism about the sender's credibility, noting that the FBI did not engage with this individual despite TMZ's willingness to facilitate payment.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department, which has been leading the investigation since Nancy Guthrie's disappearance approximately five months ago, confirmed that the case remains active. Further inquiries regarding the ransom notes have been referred to the FBI, which has not yet commented on the matter.
