PIKESVILLE, Md. — A serious accident involving a public transit bus occurred on Wednesday evening, resulting in injuries to more than 30 individuals. The incident took place shortly before 6 p.m. ET in Pikesville, a suburb located northwest of Baltimore.

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, a Maryland Transit Administration bus struck several vehicles before losing control and crashing into a nearby building. Emergency responders reported that the bus driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

In total, 36 people were taken to area hospitals for treatment, with twelve vehicles involved in the collision, including one that rolled over.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation, as authorities work to determine what led to the incident. Maryland Governor Wes Moore has been monitoring the situation closely and expressed gratitude for the first responders who acted swiftly to assist those affected.

“We are deeply grateful for our first responders who acted with speed and skill to ensure the safety of our neighbors,” Governor Moore stated in a social media post. He also mentioned that state officials are coordinating with local authorities to provide necessary support.
