Baltimore County Police announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the shooting death of Nasir Majied, a 22-year-old Towson University student, earlier this month.
While the identity of the suspect was not disclosed on Monday night, officials confirmed that the search related to the investigation has concluded.
Anthony Shelton, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department, stated that the suspect's name would be released only after they have appeared before a court commissioner.
On June 5, police had been actively searching for Reginald T. Gray, 33, who was considered a person of interest in the case. Authorities had previously released images of Gray along with a description of a 2007 Nissan Altima he was reportedly driving, warning that he should be regarded as “armed and dangerous.”
The tragic incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. when Majied was shot while driving northbound on York Road, just before Towson Circle. He was in a silver Kia Forte at the time. Following the shooting, he was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Majied was remembered fondly by friends and the university community, with a vigil held in his honor where attendees described him as soft-spoken and gentle.
Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier commended the police department for their relentless efforts in apprehending the suspect, expressing condolences to Majied's family and friends during this difficult time.
