TANEYTOWN, Md. — The Taneytown Police Department is actively investigating reports of a suspicious white work/camper van that allegedly offered candy to children in the area.
The police responded to calls from residents on Cambridge Court, where witnesses described a man in the van attempting to engage with children. According to reports, the individual left the scene after the children ran away.
Authorities noted that the vehicle was last observed making a turn onto Grand Drive.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging community members to assist in identifying the driver. They emphasized the importance of community safety and transparency during this investigation.
“We understand that incidents like these can make the community feel unsafe,” police stated. “Please know we are committed to investigating this and providing a transparent response when we have the information to do so.”
