The Maryland Primary Election has concluded, but the counting of some votes is still ongoing. Preliminary results indicate that multiple challengers are positioned to unseat incumbents in various local offices.
In Baltimore City, Sabrina Tapp-Harper is currently ahead by nearly 5,000 votes against incumbent Sheriff Sam Cogen, suggesting she may secure the win. Tapp-Harper received support from Mayor Brandon Scott, while Cogen, who previously defeated John Anderson, has held the sheriff's position for over 30 years.
Meanwhile, in Baltimore County, prosecutor Sarah David appears to have achieved a significant victory over long-serving Democratic State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger. David's campaign was bolstered by an endorsement from Governor Wes Moore, as Shellenberger faced criticism for his collaboration with federal immigration authorities.
Additionally, State Senator Dalya Attar, who is currently under federal indictment, seems to be losing her seat to Delegate Malcom Ruff by a margin exceeding 20 percent.
It is important to note that these results are not yet finalized, and official confirmation is still pending.
