BALTIMORE — The local community has come together to pay tribute to three-year-old Jordan Bright, who lost her life in a hit-and-run accident this past weekend.
On Saturday, June 20, police were dispatched to the 1800 block of West Pratt Street following reports of a pedestrian involved in a vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers discovered Bright suffering from critical injuries.
She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities later apprehended a 14-year-old boy, identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident. Reports indicate that the vehicle had been reported stolen by a family member prior to the crash.
A GoFundMe campaign was launched on Monday to assist Bright's family with various expenses, including funeral costs, memorial services, and grief counseling. The campaign describes Bright as a “precious child with a bright future ahead of her,” noting the profound loss felt by her family.
“She should have had countless more birthdays to celebrate, first days of school to experience, dreams to pursue, and memories to create with those who loved her,” the campaign states. “Instead, her family is now facing the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye far too soon.”
The community is also organizing a candlelight prayer vigil to honor Bright's life, scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m. The vigil will take place at the intersection of West Pratt Street and North Monroe Street.
